Chapter 2

Something like ten minutes later, Alex was waiting for Sean in her car, outside the automatic gates of their huge home. She was even somewhat scared, thinking that maybe he wasn’t willing to go with her, that he would have preferred to read that book and perhaps had nothing to tell her about the whole matter.

Yeah, Gwen was right. Their worst fault was that they didn’t talk, hiding the problems, preferring to run away instead to solve them.
And maybe she just needed some company, too. Not a son, by no means. Sean wasn’t ready for that, and he had other two to take care of. That was why she was taking the pill, knowing all too well that there would have been serious risks to conceive for sometimes there was no time to waste with a condom. Especially for they were maybe too hot blooded.

A cat, maybe. Or a dog. Just to keep her company while Sean was away.

One of those days she should have talked about that. Maybe he would have allowed her to choose a puppy.

When Sean exited the house he was wearing a plain shirt and a pair of faded jeans, and smiled brightly at his Alex as he walked unhurriedly to the car. He seemed absolutely fine, not worried at all about her alleged jitters.

For him, it all was the norm. To give all of himself for his job, to become one with his character was the norm. Thus he didn't think that Alex could have taken it personally and feel neglected, and when that actually happened he always tried to behave like he usually did, waiting for her to cool down and for things to go back to normality.

"Hello there." he smiled once on the car, closing the door and leaning to kiss her tenderly. "So where are we going?"

“I-I was planning to have a shopping session…just me and you…” she said softly, but still nervously. “It’s been a long time… and… we could even discuss about… certain matters. You just have to tell me where do you propose to go…”

"I don't have particular preferences" Sean replied, shrugging, a hint of a grin on his features. "So I'm at your mercy today, take me wherever you want to go and I won't complain. On the contrary, I'll be quite happy to spend some time with my most beloved treasure."

Said that he leaned again to frame her face gently, and kissed the tip of her nose affectionately. Then he smiled, staring intently at her, and asked softly: "What are the certain matters you wish to discuss about, by the way?"

“We’ll talk about that later” she said sadly, retreating from his hands and just turning her attentions to the road, driving to a huge shopping centre.

Still she was upset. For she couldn’t understand how he could be so cold and distant a moment and then just smile and pretend that nothing had happened. But he was an actor after all. And her prejudices toward the acting class were still partially there, for sometimes she just felt out of place at his side. At those premieres or interviews for example.

Once arrived Alex parked the car after a silent ride, waiting for Sean to catch her up before to step into the elevator.

Though he had noticed well that something was definitely wrong, he just continued to smile softly at her now and then, and took her hand into his when they exited the elevator. How was he going to prove her that she was the most important of all things for him? And she really was. He would have given up anything, even his career for her.

"What were you planning to buy, love?" he asked, eyeing a nearby shop window and then turning his attentions to Alex, catching a glimpse of a bar on the other side of the large square as he did so .

"What about an ice cream or something, for a start?" he smiled then, remembering all the times they had used to walk hand in hand to gaze at the colourful shop windows, chattering and laughing together, a huge ice cream in hand. And he wanted that back, that closeness, that complicity, he wanted it more than ever. He didn't like to feel her that distant and upset, at all.

“I’d like a mint water-ice” she smiled softly, gently squeezing his hand and looking into his bright eyes.

They were still into the little corridor near to the elevator, a secluded spot were they were hidden to speculative eyes and Alex’s mind abruptly swirled with a thousand of images of them together, three years of love, passion and happiness.

Overwhelmed by those emotions, she flung her arms to his neck, hugging him tightly and hiding her face between his neck and shoulder.

“I don’t like you when you’re so…absorbed into your work. You forget everything else for months, then you just remember that you’ve a life, someone who loves you that is waiting for you to see her. And then you behave as if nothing had happened. It hurts me. But you never talk about that and… sometimes I’m afraid to talk to you for I’m scared that you could be pissed off and would just yell at me…”

She had told him everything, almost forgetting to breathe, still hiding her face for she feared to look at his reaction, at the look of blame that she was sure was into his eyes.

"Yell at you?" Sean repeated, truly baffled by her words. Needing to look straight into her eyes he didn't untangle himself from the embrace, but just retreated enough to be able to face her. He raised a hand to stroke her hair reassuringly, feeling how very tense she was. And again, he didn't like it. He didn't like the thought that she could be afraid of him, thinking with dread about his possible reactions upon discussing certain matters.

"Alex.." he said softly then, urging her to raise her head. "Dear God, how can you even think that I would get angry and yell at you for a thing like that? There is nothing in the world I love more than you, not even my job, nothing. I would give up my very life for you.."

“You are not yourself when you begin to be taken by a film” she explained softly, finally meeting his eyes. “I find myself with a stranger, someone I don’t know, for you become like the character you’re portraying…”

Alex wasn’t surely waiting a so quiet discussion, and both his behaviour and his words had somewhat calmed her, even if she was still tense and even scared by his reaction.

Though he was again her Sean, her beloved one, she had a feeling that those two years would have been difficult, and probably would have caused fights and crisis between them.

Sean sighed, faltering for some moments, his eyes never leaving hers.

He wasn't expecting that, indeed he wasn't. Probably just because it came natural to him to give all of himself for his job, and he was totally unaware to actually change his behaviour and attitude whenever acting got in the way between him and his Alex. Yet she was. In fact she suddenly seemed very well aware of said alterations.

"Why?" was all he could think in that moment. "Why you did never tell me before? And how--"

Another deep sigh then, and the next moment both of Sean's strong hands were framing her face gently, as he tried with all of his will to understand.

"Why have you been undergoing all this for three years without a complain? Why, Alex?"

“I was scared” she confessed softly after some moments, lowering her eyes for she couldn’t bear that investigative gaze. “Acting is…your life and I had no right to come there and ruin everything just because I felt neglected and… depressed sometime. I was scared to ruin everything. But now… I dunno Sean…it’s just that I feel that this project could really be an hard test for our love. Something that will decide our future. It will go on or crumble miserably… no escape…”

"It will go on." he said firmly, without faltering the slightest this time. "Of all things never, ever doubt about our love.. how can it stand if we don't believe in it?"

The sudden awareness of all that she'd been through for three years--Christ, three years. Three blasted years, not a week or a month or two--hit him indeed quite hard. He didn't know if he was actually feeling more guilty or moped. Possibly both at the same extent.

He held her tight for quite a while, saying nothing, and not giving a damn about the buggers who passed them by and eyed curiously such a display. Just piss off, was what he thought every time, darting grim glares here and there, holding her protectively into his arms. But yet there was something he wanted, needed to ask her, a doubt that was gnawing at his very guts since her open-hearted confession.

"Alex, I.. need you to tell me something and please, I'm begging you to be totally honest with me.. can you do this?" he asked awkwardly, drawing back, and cleared his throat when she nodded hesitantly.

God, that was difficult. He had never been the kind of guy to ask such things, finding the whole concept more fitting cheap b-movies and wishy-washy love romances than real life. But he had to know, at cost of sounding dull and insecure. He didn't care, for that was how he was actually feeling, as the words came out in something more resembling a hushed mumble that an actual question.

"You.. have not been unhappy all the while, have you?"

Both that question and the look in his eyes stirred something deep inside of her. Sean was feeling poorly, and it was all her fault, for she hadn't been able to shut that damned mouth. Her raving speech had hurt him, and that was what she had dreaded the most.

"That was why I've never told you" she just smiled bitterly, shaking her head and sighing, trying to search for the right words, hoping to don't slip up everything again this time.

"In... my life I have never been what you could call a lucky girl. I've lost my parents when I was but a little baby child, and I was sent to that aunt, my grandmother's sister, for my grandparents didn't want me. I've spent the whole adolescence trying to figure out why I couldn't have a real family. Not that aunt Ma' wasn't a good mother for me but... Christ I didn't even know how did they look like! I've never had not even a photo of my parents!" at those words, remembering all she had been through, Alex faltered a little, taking in a deep breath and closing her eyes, releasing it just when she felt ready to speak again, her eyes unwavering this time.

"Sean at seventeen I was alcoholic. I've...never told it to anyone. My aunt helped me to come out of that trouble, and sent me to England, where I met Gwen. She...she knows what I've been through. Then... years ago I've met a man, the one that seemed to be my perfect match, the prince I'd always dreamed of. We were about to marry when...when I found him fucking another woman. And I was about to fell again, Sean. So Gwen and Mark helped to distract me with that diary, and when they've found it at your home... well... I've find you. You were an actor. The class I believed to be just addicted to sex and money. But you were different. Pleasurably different. A gentleman. Sweet. Tender. Attentive. Witty. You've held my hearth from the beginning, even if I were stubbornly trying to deny it. And that's what you are. The man I love. The one who gave a meaning to my life. If I wouldn't have find you I don't know what would I be now. With you... I'm happy. It doesn't matter if sometimes we fight, or if I'm sad and I feel alone. I wouldn't change it with nothing in the world. I wouldn't change you for no one else. Never..."

"Believe in us, then.." Sean whispered, moved deeply by such outburst, by the slight trembling in her voice, by the way she was looking fragile, vulnerable, almost childlike in her truthfulness. He was probably sounding like the wishy-washy romance main character again but what the hell, that was what he was feeling to say. And it was like the shopping centre, the faceless people hustling in and out of the nearby elevator, the soft music croaking from the cheap speakers overhead had suddenly disappeared, the moment belonging only to them. Because yes, it had indeed been a while since the last time they had really talked. Talked about important matters, not just joked or chattered.

"I want you to always lean on me Alex, I want you to exact to have me present by your side everyday, I want you to scold me whenever I neglect you, I want you to understand how much, how deeply I'm in love with you.."

"I know that you love me" she said softly, gently caressing his cheek. "I know that. That's why I'm scared to ruin everything. It's so difficult to...find true love, that now that I've find it...I couldn't bear to lose it. I don't want to fight with you. So I usually let go, waiting for your filming to be over, without scolding and exacting nothing. Just clenching my teeth..."

"Don't."

The mere suggestion had Sean shaking his head steadfastly, his arms tightening around her waist.

"Please don't. I've taken you for granted for way too long.. you are a person, too. You have needs, wishes, thoughts exactly as I do. Promise me that from now on you won't be afraid to claim what is due, and that you won't be afraid of me, for there is really no need.. promise me."

"I swear my beloved" she smiled again, brightly this time. "And I love you...I love you so much".

Said that, she just looked intensely into his eyes and then brushed his lips with hers, underlining her words with a deep kiss, to let him understand the depth of her feelings for him.

When they parted Sean couldn't help but grin, one of his hands sliding slowly to rest on the small of Alex' back as he gave her a loud kiss on the cheek.

"Do you still want that mint water-ice?" he asked, smiling enticingly and nodding towards the bar on the other side of the square. "For I wouldn't disdain to sit at one of those tables with you and share a huge chocolate ice cream, but.. well.. if you prefer your mint I'll just resign and give up the chocolate thing.."

Grinning back, Alex pretended to be pondering about his words for a while, until she gave him a quick peck on his lips and nodded.

“Ok, then let’s go and share this chocolate ice cream…It will be…romantic…funny…sexy…”

"No doubt, but.. will you feed me, too?" Sean grinned wickedly, his hand descending further for a quick squeeze, hurrying back in place the next moment. His grin widening almost inconceivably as he did so, green eyes sparkling with amusement. "I promise that I will feed you in return, but this is definitely not the place for what I have in mind. At home, maybe. If you behave."

“What do you have in mind?” she asked then, suddenly curious and utterly amused by his behaviour. Unfortunately he wasn’t willing to let her know, even if she cuddled and cherished him for all the day, asking him every now and then why was he grinning like a fool every time he looked at her.

Sure that he had something in mind, Alex simply couldn’t figure out what was he trying to do.

Once at home, she settled all the underwear they had bought into their drawers, and the books into the bookcase, spending quite a while to find an empty space among the others.

Looking at her watch while she descended the stairs, Alex couldn’t believe that it was almost dinner time.

They had spent all the day shopping together, eating some fish and chips into the park and laughing and walking hand in hand as they used to do a long time before.

“Sean?” she called then, believing he was gardening as usual. “Sean? It’s almost dinner time! What do you want me to prepare you?”

"I'm up here." he called from the landing atop the stairs after some moments, clad only in his bathrobe, and careful not to lean out enough for her to actually see him. "Forget the dinner, I need you. Come for a moment, will ya?"

Said that he grinned to himself, hurrying to the bedroom and then into their bath, to check once again if everything was arranged properly.

While in their chamber the only light was that of the fireplace, the bathroom was lit by many candles, the large bathtub filled with hot water and scented soap. A trolley was set nearby, with a bouquet of the red roses Sean had taken care of so dearly in the backyard of their house, and then picked for the occasion, standing in the centre. Around the vase there were some plates, arranged with tarts, small toasts and assorted vegetables, sliced carefully and scattered here and there with slices of cheese and olives. Two chalices filled with red wine completed the picture, along with a small bowl filled with strawberries and whipped cream.

When he heard a faint noise by the door Sean turned around, smiling when he saw his Alex standing there, astonished and wide-eyed, beautiful in the faint flickering of the candles. He neared her then, the happy smile unwavering, and started to unhurriedly unbutton her jeans, staring straight into her eyes all the while.

"Let's take these clothes off," he whispered against her lips, "we don't want the water to get cold, do we?"

“But…” was the only thing she managed to whisper, on the verge of tears. It was simply too beautiful, to amazingly incredible to be true. He had arranged that dream just for her. Sean, her beloved one, standing in front of her, godlike in his perfection, the faint light grazing his features and making his green eyes spark and shine.

“I love you” she simply said then, stepping out of her jeans, letting the shirt and bra fell onto the marble floor, touching his face with trembling fingers, as if fearing that the spell could be broken even by that simple gesture, but still too astonished to smile and let go.

Fate hadn’t been good to her, until she had met that gorgeous creature standing in front of her, that was making her life a living dream. And she wasn’t willing to let him go. Never. It hadn’t been right to say that he was jealous, for she was, too. Absolutely jealous towards every woman that would have tried to take him away from her. Alex would have never allowed another one to ruin their dream.

Sean caressed her hand with his own for a moment before he quietly freed himself of the white bathrobe, the soft cloth pooling at his feet. Then he sank to kneel in front of his lover, strong hands settling at her waist to slip her panties off slowly, as green eyes closed and Sean's mouth neared her skin to trail lingering kisses on her belly and stomach. Once the underwear was removed he stopped, though, raising his head to meet bright blue eyes and smiling warmly when Alex' fingers reached to stroke his hair affectionately. That simple gesture always managed to have him literally melting under her touch, and he was pretty sure that she knew it quite well by then.

Mere moments later Sean was standing, and taking her hand to guide her to the bathtub, waiting for her to settle down before entering as well.

"I've promised to feed you." he said solemnly then, drawing the trolley closer to the tub. "Are you hungry?"

“Yes I am…” she smiled brightly, gradually recovering from her initial amazement, closing her eyes and relishing the warmth of the water into the large jacuzzi, immerging all of herself except for her hair. It was quite late and she knew that probably the evening would have continued into the bedroom, to make love over and over again, so she just didn’t want to waste time.

Once opened her eyes again, she softly caressed Sean’s powerful shoulders and his chest, raising her eyes to meet his.

“You’re beautiful” she said in a whisper, never tiring to say him what she thought of his body, even when sometimes Sean was worried about his age, telling her that he felt somewhat old.

“Nobody had ever arranged such a…marvellous evening for me… Sometimes I ask myself if I’m worth to be at your side…”

A typical, crooked smile slowly curved Sean's lips as he leaned to pick a small toast from the tray, to near it invitingly to her lips.

"Well, I had to do anything in a rush.. but you deserve much more than this." he said softly, ignoring deliberately her last sentence, and chuckling softly before he spoke again. "Let's just say that I didn't have the time to actually cook, and arrange everything properly.. And I was terrified to see you open the door of the study, and catch me while sneaking into our bedroom with a plate or the flowers.."

Chuckling, Alex gave him a lovingly look, nibbling at the toast and softly sucking at his fingers during the process, without averting her eyes.

“Everything is perfect, Sean…everything. And I don’t deserve more than this…there’s nothing more. No one more romantic or… more sexy than you…I love you, did I already tell it?”

"Mmm yeah, actually. But I just can't get enough of hearing those words, so..." he smirked, while attentively feeding Alex with a slice of cheese, and then nearing her to look longingly into her eyes and kiss her cheek. "I love you, too." he said, unable to hold back a smile.

Smiling back, Alex took a piece of carrot, nearing it to his lips, eyeing the food on the tray.

"I want to feed you, too" she said solemnly. "But I thought you were hungry for we had barely eaten today...so eat this carrot, for later you'll eat some cheese, tarts... and...oh you know I was very interested in this whipped cream? I've always been curious about that. Gwen told me that it could be enticing to play with that, but I've never tried..."

"We'll save the whipped cream for later, then, we can always take the trolley with us and eat something in front of the fireplace. I'm just afraid that after.. playing with the cream we could need another bath, or at least a quick shower, obviously together. You won't mind, will you?"

The dinner was momentarily forgotten, for Sean was too busy kissing her neck to be able to feed her, his arms wrapped tightly around her chest.

"I never mind when it comes to be with you..." she whispered at his ear, her hands entwined in his hair, eyes closed and an expression of sheer pleasure on her face.

Instinctively a mere moment later she wrapped her shapely arms around his neck, as to pull him even closer, then opening again her eyes she looked at him while he was busy lapping at her skin.

"Kiss me, Sean..."

Blazing green eyes met blue ones just for a moment before their mouths collided, Sean's hands framing her face and his chest clinging to Alex' breast. Both were panting softly when they parted, minutes later, and he was grinning in what could have been called a quite baleful manner. Then he was inhaling a large amount of breath, and disappearing underwater to bite and nibble playfully at her sides, his hands reaching for her breasts.

Laughing out loudly when he started to tickle her, Alex threatened to exit the water if he didn’t stop it immediately, but Sean just continued, so the girl somewhat managed to pull his head near to hers, looking straight into his eyes and wrapping her legs tightly around his sides to take him in place.

“Trapped m’lord…”

"Uh-oh.. looks like I'm done for.." Sean muttered, sighing and frowning playfully in a quite theatrical way. He then leaned over, bracing on his arms by placing both hands on the border of the tub behind Alex's back, and smirked as he kneeled in between her legs, the tip of his erection rubbing against her inner thigh as he did so.

"I'll give you another kiss if you can figure out what that was" he chuckled against her lips, brushing the tip of his nose against hers affectionately, and half closing his eyes.

“Was it maybe the proof that you want me?” she smirked then, looping her arms around his neck. “Right here and now I would say… Am I right my love?”

"You're absolutely right" he said softly, tightening the embrace and staring intently at Alex. "But we could also.. well, maybe move to the bedroom, arrange some cushions and a blanket over the rug and take care of the business there. Think about it.. just me and you, naked in front of the fireplace.. with our bowl of strawberries and whipped cream.." he said enticingly, and purposefully rubbing his groin against hers all the while. "Does it not sound awfully tempting?"

"It sounds terribly enticing" she whispered against his lips, before to catch them in a heated kiss, tasting his mouth, nibbling at his lower lip now and then. They parted only for lack of hair, Alex looking longingly at him.

"Would you mind to introduce me to the wonderful world of strawberries and whipped cream?"

"I'd love to."

Just the time to slip out of the tub, grab a couple of towels and the small bowl with said strawberries, fragrant and inviting under a mount of cream, and the two were already collecting the cushions and the blanket, settling them hurriedly on the soft rug.

Laying at her side, Sean placed the bowl in between them, grinning openly this time. He gazed at Alex for some moments, at her naked and still damp body enlightened by the fire, until he unceremoniously stuck a finger in the whipped cream, raising an eyebrow amusedly. Said finger then emerged from the bowl and landed on Alex' stomach, tracing a tortuous path to the girl's left nipple, teasing it to full erectness. An eager mouth promptly followed the path to lick away the cream, as its owner was collecting some more of the sweet mush to spread it over Alex' other breast.

Gasping softly at both the coldness of the whipped cream and the warmth of his mouth, Alex closed her eyes, entwining her hands in his hair.

A moment later she couldn’t help but reopen her eyes, craving to see him lapping at her skin and breasts as a starving child. Unable to restrain herself, the girl took a strawberry with some whipped cream, tugging at his hair and urging him to nibble at it, looking intensely at him.

A still grinning Sean raised an eyebrow, returning the intense stare as he neared the strawberry, giving it just a quick glance before his green eyes met Alex' again, and the tip of his tongue swirled provocatively round the small fruit to savour the cream. Then he took the strawberry with his teeth, and slowly neared his lover's face to offer it to her from his mouth.

Grinning back, Alex nibbled at the fruit, gnawing it and tasting the sweet juice dipping from it, sucking Sean's lips just to tease him, noticing just then how incredibly excited she was.

She felt wet and craved to feel him inside of her, widening her legs to let him see how very ready she was. Her fingers slowly travelled from one of her breasts to her flat stomach, her eyes never leaving his green ones. She softly gasped when they reached the target, circling her clitoris with lazy movements, smiling when she saw that he couldn't take his eyes off her.

Sean wasn't grinning anymore, but gnawing impatiently at his lower lip, and staring steadily at her. Without a word he sank down, taking the small bowl with him and settling it on the rug at her side. He lifted his eyes just to dart Alex a quick glance, before he took a generous amount of cream with two fingers and shed it along her inner thigh, dipping his head to lick her clean eagerly even before his fingers had actually reached their target.

Throwing her head back, Alex moaned out loudly, gripping his hair with her hair, yet paying attention not to hurt him.

"I love you" she whispered after a while, caught in waves of passion, and unable to restrain herself, she just pulled him down onto the rug, climbing on him and hissing softly when she let him penetrate her.

"I love you".

The only answer Sean was able to utter was a low moan, as his head fell back on the rug and his hands grasped her waist firmly. He wasn't expecting such an assault, Alex being usually more moderate than him, even if just slightly, and to see her that wild always turned him on immensely. More than she usually did.

"Kiss me" he muttered after a while, reopening his eyes to look at her, and matching her movements as he could, shivering helplessly beneath her.

Lowering herself onto his body, Alex nibbled at his lower lip not too gently, without stopping her merciless thrusting, alternating fast moves and slow, deep ones, trying hard to restrain herself, even if she could already feel the first spasms of pleasure in her lower belly.

Inhaling a deep breath, she closed her eyes, kissing Sean passionately, quickening her pace even more.

Sean's hands were now gripping at her buttocks, his hips raising in time to meet her thrusts and his mouth fastened to hers. Uncurbed moans coming from him now and then, matched with muffled whimpers whenever the pleasure became almost too much to bear. It was a matter of mere minutes before Alex had him twitching and panting heavily, struggling not to just shut his eyes and let go.

"Slacken" he managed to pant then, "Thus I don't know how much--oh God."

"Let go..." was all she whispered at him, her voice thick with lust. She redoubled her efforts, closing her eyes and crying out his name when she finally was sent over the edge a mere moment later, waves of pleasure washing all over her body, letting her trembling and wriggling helplessly for a while, trying to recover from what had seemed one of the most intense orgasms she had ever experienced.

Still panting and moaning in the last throes of pleasure, Sean suddenly pulled her head closer in a quite rough fashion, to kiss her deeply with fervent exhilaration. His arms wrapped around her shoulders, his fingers sunk in her damp hair to keep her in place, to keep her that close, as if trying to tell her with just a kiss how very much he was in love with her.

"I'm afraid that I'm not able to move a single muscle..." she chuckled when their lips parted, looking longingly into his eyes.

God, he was beautiful. Even now, with his hair plastered to his face due to the sweat, he seemed the most beautiful to her.

"I love you... I love you so much... and thank you...it had been a wonderful surprise to me..."

"It has been wonderful to surprise you" he corrected with a smile, caressing strands of dark hair away from her face. "I love you too, Alex.. before we met I didn't think it was actually possible to love someone at this extent.. to love someone so much to be willing to sleep together on a rug in front of the fireplace."

"Oh, wow this is indeed strange" she grinned, extending an hand to pull a blanket from the nearby bed, wrapping it on both of them.

"Sean Bean that is willing to sleep on the floor instead that in his beloved soft, huge bed... you are really crazy about me, aren't you?"

"I am totally mad about you." he said softly, snuggling against her. "And you'd better hug me straightaway and cuddle me to sleep, if you don't want me to start over again, Miss Corsi." he smirked, and then suddenly pursed his lips as if pondering about something of utter importance. "How does Mrs. Alex Bean sound to you?"

“F-Funny…” she just replied, tightening the embrace while caressing his hair she loved so much. That night they scented of whipped cream, for probably a little amount of that mush had somewhat managed to dirty his head. Passing her hands through those blond and silken hair she usually relaxed, allowing him some relax, too.

But not tonight. What was he up to? It was but months ago that seeing some film on TV together he had told her that he was not ready to marry again, and especially to have a son, with the result that she had been even more hurt of what she had showed him.

"Only funny?" Sean retorted with a chuckle, drawing back to be able to look straight at her. "I like the sound of it.. even if to be correct it should be Mrs. Alessandra Bean, which I like even more."

But he didn't miss the upset look on Alex' face. And he frowned, too.

"You don't trust me yet, do you?"

“It’s not this, Sean” she just murmured, sighing softly and looking straight at him. “I think I’m just scared. For maybe marriage is not what you really want, what you desire. It could come out as a trouble if you do it not being completely sure. I’m just trying to...live our life as we are doing. One day maybe…maybe your heart will be at peace, and you would like to marry someone, sure that there’s no one else you would like to have at your side…”

"I am already sure of that" he replied softly, sighing. "I am sure of that from the beginning, Alex, there is no one else I'd rather have at my side.. it's just thinking back to my marriage with Melanie that scares me, I think.. I don't want you to change like she did, I don't want things to change like they did when we got married. That's the only thing that actually hinders me from asking.. it's not a matter of lack of love or such rubbish. I love you, I really do.."

"I know you do..." she whispered softly, kissing his forehead and smiling. "And I love you too. But now you should sleep. I swear I'll cuddle you until we both fall asleep and tomorrow if you want me to, I'll sit onto your lap, reading that book. Next week we'll take that plane. I'm sure that you'll be a wonderful Boromir..."

"My wonderful Boromir will need you terribly, during those eighteen months.."
